The Salvation Army flag
The Army flag itself is not
sacred but is a symbol of the beliefs held by Salvationists. The
Army's motto 'Blood & Fire' is also inscribed on the flag.
The blue border represents the holiness of God. The red
background is a reminder of Jesus' blood shed on the cross that
all may live lives free from sin. The yellow star symbolises the
power of God's Holy Spirit.
The Salvation Army Stafford is a church in the Stafford
community. It is the result of a merger between the Albion and Mitchelton corps.

full storyThrift stores under attack THE Salvation Army's is becoming increasingly annoyed at the poor way its
Salvos Stores are treated by the public.
In recent months, the church has come out condemning the practice of dumping
garbage on the front steps of its stores which costs it thousands of dollars in
dumping costs.
While some members of the public are leaving useable secondhand goods at its
front doors, many people are leaving total rubbish.
The latest trend was highlighted on Channel 7's current affairs program Today
Tonight where non-needy people are stealing good-quality donations from outside
the stores.
The Army has constantly tried to dissuade people from leaving donations at the
stores after hours but the practice persists.
Now people who are often well off are stooping to stealing from the
less-fortunate by taking goods left by well-meaning donors.
Today tonight highlighted a store at Lutwyche on Brisbane's northside which,
night after night, has been the target of the "thieves".
With a hidden camera (see picture) and a reporter inside, the television station filmed and
caught in the act several people, including allegedly the proprietors of an
adjoining Chinese restaurant. To have donations picked up, telephone the Salvos' National Hotline on 13 72 58
